Exercise is like cooking — right method > more ingredients. Fix these 3 things and your 20min workout will work harder than someone’s 1hr grind.

1. Mistake #1: You Only “Feel the Burn”, Not the Muscle
Sign: After squats, only your knees/back hurt. After pushups, only your shoulders burn.
Problem: Wrong muscles are working. Knees/back pain = weak glutes/core. Shoulder pain = weak chest/triceps.
Fix It: “Mind-Muscle Connection”. Before each rep, think: “Which muscle should work?”
For squats: Push through heels, squeeze butt at top. For pushups: Chest leads, not shoulders. 2sec down, 1sec up. Slow = correct muscle.

2. Mistake #2: You Exercise, But You Don’t Recover
Sign: You train daily, same body part. You’re always tired, sleeping poorly, performance dropping.
Problem: Muscles grow during rest, not during exercise. Training tears muscle. Sleep + rest days repair + build it stronger. No rest = overtraining = injury + no gains.
Fix It: Use “48-Hour Rule”. Train same muscle group once every 48hrs max. Mon = Legs, Tue = Upper body, Wed = Rest/walk, Thu = Legs again. Sleep 7-8hrs. Rest days = walk/stretch, not Netflix 12hrs.

3. Mistake #3: You Chase Pain, Not Progress
Sign: “If I’m not dying, I didn’t workout”. You add weight/jumps even with bad form.
Problem: Pain ≠ progress. Bad form + heavy weight = torn ligament, back injury, knee damage. Injury will stop you 6 weeks. Consistency beats intensity.
Fix It: Use “Form First” rule. Master movement with bodyweight first. Can you do 15 perfect squats? Then add weight. Film yourself or use mirror. If form breaks, stop set.

4. The 3-Question Safety Check Before Every Workout
Ask yourself:

  1. Hydrated? Dark urine = drink water first.
  2. Any pain? Sharp, stabbing pain = stop. Dull muscle soreness = ok.
  3. Warm-up done? 3min march in place + arm swings. Cold muscles tear easily.

Bottom Line
Nigerians don’t need harder workouts. We need smarter workouts. Correct form + rest + gradual progress = no injury + real results in 8 weeks. 20min perfect squats > 1hr messy squats.

When to Stop + See Doctor: Chest pain, dizziness/fainting, joint locking, numbness, or BP >180/110 before workout. This is general info, not medical advice.
